Greetings to our Milford family and supporters!
Another busy week, as we approach the three month anniversary of the fire.
We have made real progress on many fronts, and the momentum is still strong for moving forwards. We are also discovering a new, enhanced, ecumenical spirit amongst us, and last week, as a congregation, we went on a road trip to the Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown, for a special service involving seven congregations in total. Baptists, Presbyterians, and United Methodists came together to celebrate Pentecost, and what a celebration it was! Yesterday I received a check for $630, the plate collection taken that day, for the Milford UMC Relief Fund. A blessing indeed.
The Congregational Survey that went out a week ago, has come back with a unanimous endorsement of the recommendation by the Task Force, to rebuild. This decision has not been taken lightly. We have entered a season of discernment, seeking to align ourselves with God’s plan for our congregation. If you have yet to complete a copy of the Survey, please do so by this coming Sunday,11th June.
Also, this coming Sunday, 11th June, there is to be a special Summer Praise Concert, featuring the Remnants, beginning at 2pm at Westville United Methodist Church, on the corner of County Highways 35 and 43. The concert is to be followed by ice cream sundaes!
Donations will be taken for Milford UMC Relief Fund, and a new roof on Westville UMC.
On Sunday 18th June, following our usual 10 45am service at 12 noon, we are tentatively planning a Congregational Meeting to hear the Task Force’s recommendations for the future. We are waiting to hear if our District Superintendent, Everett Bassetti is able to attend, as he is an important ingredient in the process of rebuilding, as outlined by the Book of Discipline. Please mark this date on your calendar.
On Sunday morning we will be back to the Cultural Center, and I look forward to seeing you all there. Please continue to keep the Task Force members in your prayers, and the church leadership. If you have questions or concerns, please speak to me, or Lola, or any Task Force member.
Last but not least… we now have a new domain for our church. Our thanks to Anthony Welsh, for all his hard work in updating the website, and assigning us a much easier to remember website address. It is simply milford.church. Type it in, and you will arrive at our website.
